Stop Playing Small

Sunlight breaking through clouds in a blue sky, symbolizing expansion and possibility

Don’t Make Yourself Small.

On expansion, releasing what we’ve outgrown, and trusting where life is leading us.

This was the message I received this week:

Don’t make yourself small.

Expand into where life is leading you.

I love everything about it.
And the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

I felt drawn to my Rumi oracle deck. I hadn’t pulled a card in over a month, but something called me to it. And I followed.

An invitation to quiet, to stillness, to go within.

I held the deck and asked to be shown — from my heart — the guidance I need right now.

What’s in my heart?
What am I meant to do with my light?
What am I meant to share with the world?

I shuffled. Pulled a card.
Blood Angel.

Before I opened the book to read a single word, I sat with the image. And what came through immediately was…

There is so much more available to me.

And to you.

More light.
More color.
More boldness.
More expansiveness.
More possibility.
More magic.
More wonder.

And also…
More depth.
More trusting.
More rooting into yourself.

Then I read the card.

And…of course.

More life.

More Life

The Blood Angel brings a message of more life. More growth, more expansion, more vitality, more life force.

And also through releasing what you’ve outgrown.
What has been.
What can no longer satisfy your soul.

A line that really hit me:

Don’t make yourself too small for what’s happening in your soul and life now.

Don’t hold onto what you know simply because you know it.
Expand into where your life is leading you.

I mean…

COME ON.

This is why I love the cards.

Not because I believe a piece of cardboard holds the answers to my life.

Because somehow, when I get quiet enough to ask from my heart, they have a way of reflecting back what I already know.

Permission from the universe.

AKA my higher consciousness 😉

Safe, not small.

Each card in the deck has a Sacred Honoring Ritual.

And during this one, something else came through:

I am safe.
Protected.
And at the same time, wildly open to the vastness of the universe.
To the wonder.
The possibilities.

It’s both — safe and expansive.

Safe to believe.
Safe to trust.
Safe to let go.
Safe to believe in what I can’t yet see.
Safe in my body.

Expansive in my mind
My soul.
My being.

Safe, not small.

That distinction feels huge to me. Because all too often, we shrink ourselves to feel “safe”… staying with what feels familiar. Even if we’ve outgrown it. We talk ourselves out of desires, nudges, soul whispers, things that feel expansive… yet also unknown. We stick with the version of life we already know how to navigate.

But small and safe aren’t the same thing.

Maybe it’s not about shrinking yourself to fit the box you already know. Living in the same stories you’ve been repeating for years. Clipping your wings to remain right where you are. Not even giving yourself the chance.

Maybe it’s about trusting yourself to expand into the life that’s waiting for you, and opening your wings to fly.

Maybe it’s about releasing the versions you’ve outgrown, the narratives that no longer fit, and simply trust yourself to be more you.

More of You

There were so many powerful moments — from the initial pull toward the deck, to the question, the shuffle, the card, the ritual. Synchronicities between the messages and my life right now. Chills from the words that spoke so resonantly to me.

What sticks with me most is the invitation to stop playing small. A reminder to not shrink — anywhere, anymore. Especially where my soul is asking me to expand.

To release what I’ve outgrown. To step beyond the known. To play with the edge of my comfort zone. To be more me.

I don’t believe this pull, this message, was intended only for me.

Consider it your permission from the universe.

Life is asking you to be more you. To step into your power, your creativity, your joy, your love. To stop negotiating with your desires. Stop quieting and ignoring your inner voice.

You don’t have to make yourself smaller to be safe.

You can feel safe and want more.

You can root deeper into your truth and expand into where your soul is leading you.

If you feel even the tiniest nudge toward something different, more, bigger, bolder, softer, quieter…listen.
